Gas Meter Installed, But No Gas Supply: Bareilly Resident Waits Over 18 Months for CUGL Connection

Jul 21, 2026 Consumer Complaints

Janta Ka Mudda has been approached by Mrs. Sarita Saxena, a resident of Ward No. 46, Siddharth Nagar, Bareilly, seeking our support in bringing her long-pending gas connection issue to the attention of Central UP Gas Limited (CUGL) and the concerned authorities.

According to the information shared with us, Mrs. Saxena deposited ₹7,000 towards a domestic PNG gas connection on 18 December 2024. However, despite the passage of more than 18 months, gas supply has still not commenced. As of 26 July 2026, the connection remains non-functional.

Infrastructure Installed, Yet No Gas Supply

Mrs. Saxena informed Janta Ka Mudda that the CUGL team has already completed the installation of the gas meter and laid the internal pipeline connection within the premises. However, the pipeline has reportedly not been connected to the main gas distribution line, preventing the commencement of gas supply.

According to the family, all formalities from the consumer’s side have been completed, but the final connection to the main network is still pending.

Written Representation Also Went Unanswered

The family further stated that Mr. Rajesh Saxena, husband of Mrs. Sarita Saxena, submitted a written representation to the CUGL office requesting early activation of the gas connection.

Despite this written request, they allege that no satisfactory response has been received, nor has any action been taken to resolve the issue. After waiting for over 18 months, the family says they continue to rely on alternative cooking arrangements despite having paid the connection charges.

Why This Issue Deserves Attention

Consumers who pay the prescribed connection charges reasonably expect that the service will be activated within a reasonable timeframe after the necessary infrastructure is installed.

When a gas meter and internal pipeline have already been installed, an extended delay in connecting the property to the main gas line can lead to inconvenience for consumers and raises questions about service timelines, communication, and grievance redressal.

If there are technical, administrative, or infrastructure-related reasons for the delay, consumers deserve clear and timely communication regarding the expected timeline for completion.

Janta Ka Mudda’s Appeal

Janta Ka Mudda respectfully urges Central UP Gas Limited (CUGL) to review this matter, examine the status of Mrs. Sarita Saxena’s gas connection, and provide the family with a clear explanation regarding the prolonged delay.

If there are any pending technical or operational issues preventing activation of the connection, the company should communicate them transparently and provide an estimated timeline for completion. If all required formalities have already been fulfilled, we hope the gas supply can be started at the earliest.

Every consumer deserves timely service, transparent communication, and an effective grievance redressal mechanism.

Janta Ka Mudda Will Continue to Raise This Issue

At Janta Ka Mudda, we believe that citizens should not have to wait indefinitely for essential services after completing all required formalities.

We will continue to raise this issue until the concerned authorities provide a meaningful response. Central UP Gas Limited (CUGL) is welcome to share its clarification or response, and Janta Ka Mudda will publish it with equal prominence in the interest of fairness and transparency.
