Residents of Janakpuri, Ward No. 50, Bareilly, have approached Janta Ka Mudda seeking our support in raising their concerns with the concerned authorities regarding the alleged closure of a public road that has reportedly served the community for more than 50 years.
According to the letter submitted by local residents, a section of the road within the Government Awas Vikas Colony has allegedly been blocked after iron gates were installed on what they claim is government land, restricting the movement of the general public.
The complainants state that the road has served as an important access route for residents of Janakpuri and Adarsh Nagar for decades. They allege that the closure of Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 5 has forced people to take longer and more congested routes, creating inconvenience and increasing the risk of road accidents.
Key Concerns Raised by Residents
According to the complaint:
- A public road that has reportedly been in use for nearly 50 years has been blocked.
- The complainants allege that iron gates have been installed after encroaching on government land.
- Students of a nearby Lions Rohila Inter College are facing difficulties in commuting, particularly those travelling on two-wheelers.
- Senior citizens, women, and children are required to take longer routes to reach the main road and nearby facilities.
- Due to the closure of the direct route, residents are forced to travel through busy roads with heavy traffic, increasing the possibility of accidents.
- The complaint also mentions that the area is already affected by stray animals, including monkeys, dogs, cows, and bulls, making the alternate routes even more challenging.
Residents’ Demand
The residents have requested the Municipal Commissioner, Bareilly Municipal Corporation, to:
- Reopen the blocked public gates for public use.
- Conduct an inquiry into the alleged encroachment on government land.
- Ensure that if security is a concern, gates may remain closed only during the night with proper security arrangements, while remaining open during the day for public convenience.
